If you live in the Midwest,
you’re about to get walloped by a snow storm AND dangerously low temps. With
that, it’s always a good idea to know what to do during this season. Here’s a
couple tips from State Farm and one from yours truly:
- Perhaps one of the more commonly heard tips - swap your regular tires for snow tires. You’ll notice the differences, such as improved traction and shorter stopping distances.
- Keep your gas tank at least half full. This way if you get in a situation where you need to make an escape or wait for help, you don’t run out of fuel.
- Adam says: Keep “winter weather gear” in your car. This includes a blanket, an extra coat, snacks, and whatever else you feel will be absolutely necessary to survive the cold if waiting.
Winter is certainly not my
favorite season. But preparing ahead of time is always a wise move. Please stay
safe and warm if you’re in the path of the storm, and travel only when
necessary.
