2013 Buick Regal Taillight Change Video and Other YouTube Videos

Note: We no longer have this car. It was traded on my 2022 Kia K5 AWD.

I have uploaded several new videos on YouTube: a video of a walkaround of the Cadillac Lyriq and a Lyriq short, a short doing winter snow drifts and backroad driving in my Oldsmobile Bravada, and also a video explaining how to change the rear taillights on a 2011-2017 Buick Regal Turbo. The process to change the taillight was easy, as you only have to pull back some sound deadening materials in the trunk behind the light and unscrew a clamp. This process is also similar for the 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne as well - another car which both my mother and grandparents also had.

As for the winter powerslides and drifts, just remember when you do them to avoid being in high traffic areas so you don't hurt anybody else and also that you come off the gas in enough tine in your drift to regain control and slide into your next turn.

Below are the links to the videos. Remember to like, comment and subscribe! Thanks as always!

2023/2024 Cadillac Lyriq Overview and Walkaround

The Lyriq is an important model for GM and Cadillac, as its one of the first to ride on the Ultium platform, which will underpin all future GM EVs. I recently had a chance to view the Lyriq up close at my local Cadillac dealer.

Love these rims!

General Motors and Cadillac have announced they are going all-electric and the Lyriq is one of the first vehicles in that process! Riding on the modular Ultium platform, the Lyriq comes standard with RWD and a 102-kWh battery making 340 HP with an estimated driving range of 312 miles. AWD models will come in early 2023 and according to Cadillac, these models will make more than 500 HP. In fact – don’t get your hopes up about getting your hands on a 2023 model. They are all sold out! So, if you want a Lyriq, you will have to order a 2024 model. Lyriq has a 19.2-kW on-board charger that will add 52 miles of range on Level 2 home charger. That’s pretty powerful – for comparison’s sake, the Tesla Model Y has an 11.5-kW on-board charger. On a public DC fast charger, the Lyriq can charge at up to 190-kW and add 76 miles of range in 10 minutes. Standard safety features include blind-spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. If you’re curious – it appears that the upcoming Chevrolet Blazer EV and Honda Prologue EV will be more mainstream-branded sibling vehicles to the Cadillac Lyriq.

Lyriq's interior is very luxurious!
Some innovative features you will find on the Lyriq include Super Cruise, which is GM’s semi-autonomous Level 2 hands-free driving assistance feature (coming soon), over-the-air (OTA) updates for the infotainment system, a heads-up display (coming in 2024), 33-inches of total display screens on the dashboard, and a 19-speaker AKG sound system. I’ve had a couple of opportunities to get inside of the Lyriq – once at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show and again recently at my local McDonald Cadillac dealer which was holding a Lyriq social event. Overall, I find the Lyriq to be VERY impressive and to feel like a true Cadillac. All the interior materials feel solid, and the seats are very comfortable. I also find the exterior styling to be very attractive, I’m interested in seeing the Lyriq in other colors. If you’re interested in awards and accolades – the Lyriq is one of five finalist for Green Car Reports “Best Car to Buy 2023”, as the publication cites it is ringing in a new electric era for General Motors.

I uploaded a YouTube short and video of me doing a walkaround at the dealer of the Lyriq, a product analysis video, and I have also uploaded pictures of the Ultium battery stacks from the 2021 Motor Bella auto show and of the Lyriq from the 2022 Detroit Auto Show. If you are interested in seeing these, the link to the Adam’s Autos YouTube page is below. And don’t forget – Cadillac has also recently shown their flagship Rolls-Royce sedan EV competitor, the Celestiq, as well. It will have a base price of $300,000 and will be hand-built! The Lyriq, however, starts at $62,990 and under new guidelines from the Inflation Reduction Act, it should qualify for at least a portion of federal EV incentives since its built in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Lyriq YouTube video: https://youtu.be/ueTJodLn7Ps

The cell packs in the Ultium platform are arranged differently for various configurations of vehicles. Large vehicles, such as the GMC HUMMER EV, are double stacked (second picture). In the Lyriq, there will be a single stack of Ultium cells. Ultium Cells LLC is a joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solutions.
Do you think that the Lyriq will be the XT5's replacement? This SUV has been around for 7 model years now.

Winter Drive In the Kia K5 AWD

I've uploaded a new YouTube video where I test out the winter driving capabilities of my 2022 Kia K5 AWD. I also drive down my local backroads to test out its dirt/rough road holding abilities. Standard on the vehicle are 18-inch Pirelli all-season tires. Overall, I found the K5 to be quite capable and fun in the snow. Sport mode lets you kick the tail end out a little more often and get the most wheel spin (if you're looking to drift), but traction was above average for a tire that's meant to be more "sporty". I don't think it'll outdo my Jeep Compass I had in a snow storm, but the K5 AWD will make many other family sedans blush at its all-weather and backroad capability.

Still remember: Even with AWD, there's no substitute for a proper winter tire when conditions call for them.

Cars of Kansas City

The DBZ Charger was an unexpected surprise to see on the road!

I recently went on an adventure to Kansas City, KS and Overland Park, KS, and while there, these were some interesting vehicles I saw! Sports cars seem to be the "exclusive" or "luxury" vehicle of choice here. My favorite has to be the DragonBall Z Dodge Charger, followed by the custom Toyota Supra. It was a fun trip!

See my YouTube page for a short on my time in the Jeep Grand Cherokee I rented while I was in Kansas.

Motor Bella 2021

This past September, Motor Bella took place at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. This was an outdoor event held in place of the Detroit Auto Show highlighting some of the latest new vehicles and trends in mobility and electrification. There were also ride alongs in Hellcats, the Ram TRX, Jeeps, Broncos, and a variety of EVs as well - I had a chance to ride in the new F-150 Lightning and the Mustang Mach-E GT. Both were shockingly fast (see what I did there)!

Below are 10 pictures that are some of my favorite I captured from the event. The pin in the last picture was custom-made by yours truly at the Ford booth in honor of my late grandfather. He took me and my cousins on a road trip up north to Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan many years back. You can see more from Motor Bella on my Adam's Autos YouTube page - see the link below.

Here's to the return of more auto shows!

My New Car: The 2022 Kia K5 GT-Line AWD

This paint color is called "Wolf Grey"

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to post some blog updates, but perhaps one of the biggest ones worth noting is that I got a new vehicle! My "realistic dream vehicle” actually: the 2022 Kia K5 GT-Line AWD! I actually worked at Kia in product planning a few years back and performed market research that helped lead to the development of this car. Shoutout to Summit Place Kia in Auburn Hills, Michigan and Mr. David Lee for hooking me up with a cool car and great deal (again), especially during all of the chip-related supply shortages!

This K5 replaces my 2018 Jeep Compass and my mother’s 2013 Buick Regal Turbo at the same time - so 2 cars for 1.

Also, this actually is a very key moment for me, as I now have completed my “dream garage” - and because was part of the market research and development process for the K5 among other products. I have the Kia I always wanted back in high school complete a with red interior and AWD, a 2004 Oldsmobile, and my first car, the Saturn Aura (which is mechanically similar to the Pontiac G6 I initially wanted too). So far, the K5 has been an awesome car and it attracts A TON of compliments when I’m out, just like my Telluride. It’s also not a bad car to drive. Its kinda sporty-ish around town and it gets great fuel economy - my highest record to date is 41.4 MPG.

I’ll be making more posts on the K5 (and also uploading older posts I haven’t had the time to get to), such as what upgrades I’ve made to it and my other cars as well as a K5 review. Life is busy, as I’m sure you all can imagine. But in the meantime, check out two YouTube videos on when I first got the car a few months back and also a 0-60 and 0-100 test video. Like, comment and subscribe - thanks!

Winter Drives – 2019 & 2020

2004 Oldsmobile Bravada and 2018 Jeep Compass
I’ve uploaded two new YouTube videos on winter drives of my vehicles. In the 2019 video, I drive the 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude 4x4 and 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWD in the snow and test their capability. I start up my 2008 Saturn Aura, but I can’t really drive it in the snow because it doesn’t perform well in bad weather and never has. However, I found the Jeep and Oldsmobile both capable in the snow and fun! You can drift very easy in them, although the Bravada lacks all of the modern safety features of the Compass (side airbags, ESC, traction control, etc.), so you have to use common sense while having fun on backroads and in the snow.

In the second video, I drive the 2020 Kia Telluride S AWD. I got this vehicle for my mother as my gift in June 2019. In this video didn’t have access to backroads while driving it. However, I found it to be capable in the snow on the roads and you can also pull donuts in it. You also have an AWD lock mode, which can come in handy.

2020 Kia Telluride
What are your winter cars? Check out my other posts on winter driving below and remember to always drive according to weather conditions and your experience level. Also remember – AWD will help you keep going, but it won’t help you stop! Stay safe!

New YouTube Video: In-Car Comfort & Innovations – New Tech & Mobility

With features such as a 115V power outlet in the rear seats, my 2018 Jeep Compass can really be an office on wheels. Is the the start of "future mobility"?
Cars are becoming more and more advanced. We’re moving towards autonomy and maximizing in-car convenience with each passing year. But how much technology is too much? Can there be too much innovation? Should we sacrifice our freedom of car ownership for ridesharing? New car sales are have been predicted to take a slight hit due to increased ridesharing practices, however we will see what effects this global coronavirus pandemic will have on new car sales as well now.

I’ve seen many concepts proposing in-car workstations for on-the-go businesspeople, with many luxury cars also offering refrigerators in them as well. Its not hard to imagine a day where cars may be fully autonomous rolling offices! However, we would have to have the infrastructure to support this type of transition, both on the streets and in the digital realm. I feel this is a long way away, but a move we can see happening in the semi-autonomous systems we have in cars now and the Wi-Fi hotspots that are offered in some cars as well.

This brings me to my new YouTube video. In this video, I want to facilitate some discussion on what you may think the future of mobility and in-car connectivity and innovation looks like. In my 2018 Jeep Compass, I have a household outlet and enough room to stretch out and do homework on my lunch break, as well as hang suits for business trips I may have. The only thing I’m truly missing is heated rear seats and in-car Wi-Fi.

Should we strive to innovate cars beyond this? Or is less more?

New YouTube Video: Abandoned Pontiac Dealer Walkaround at Night - Sawyer’s Pontiac

Sawyers Pontiac was located in East Lansing, Michigan next to Michigan State University. The dealer is a modern relic and a reminder of an era gone by.
Ladies and gentlemen, we’re in the middle of an economic recession if you aren’t aware of it. One that seem like it happened overnight because of… Wait for it… Coronavirus. Now need I remind you that the last recession we had about a decade ago cost us many brands and businesses, and it looks like we’re going to lose many more again. Circuit City is just one of the brands that went away last decade, alongside some car brands such as Pontiac. To me, that is one of the sadder losses of the recession of last decade. So, let us reminisce and talk about a throwback still standing.

In this YouTube video, I’m going to walkaround the abandoned Sawyer’s Pontiac in East Lansing, Michigan, right next to Michigan State University where I attended college. The old lot is now used for shuttling people to football games – which are likely a thing of the past too, at least for the foreseeable future due to social distancing.

Which Pontiac models do you wish were still around? I was always a fan of the G6 in high school. And which businesses and brands (both car brands and otherwise) do you think are in danger in this recession we’re in now?

New YouTube Video: How to Change Wiper Blades - 2008 Saturn Aura

Changing wipers may seem hard, but it can all be so easy. The process varies from car to car, however.
There's a new YouTube video up on the Adam's Autos YouTube page! I demonstrate how to change the wiper blades on my 2008 Saturn Aura. Note that this wiper changing process will vary from car to car. However, in this case, this method will also apply to the 2005-2010 Pontiac G6 and 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu.

I ordered my wiper blades off of Amazon.com, which generally allows you to order an exact fit. You want to be sure that you have something that will allow you to press down on the little tab on the wiper blade to release the old blade. Then, it slides right off and the new blades can slide on. Be sure to remove the green protectant film and test the out. Also, make sure that the driver's and passenger blades are on the right sides of the car. You can see the millimeter measurements on the tip of the blade.

New YouTube Video: 0-60 MPH in All of My Cars: 08’ Aura, ‘18 Compass, ‘04 Bravada, ‘13 Regal Turbo, ‘20 Telluride

A 0-60 time isn’t everything, but it can give you an idea of what a vehicle’s powertrain is capable of.
I've uploaded a new video to my Adam's Autos YouTube page! This video features me doing a 0-60 run in all of the vehicles I have at my disposal: the 2008 Saturn Aura, 2018 Jeep Compass, 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2013 Buick Regal Turbo, and the new 2020 Kia Telluride. Can you guess which one is the fastest?

I enjoy driving all of these vehicles when I get the chance. The Regal and Aura are quite sporty, the Compass and Telluride have a "rugged but still smooth" vibe, and the Bravada is butter smooth on the road, comfortable and luxurious while still being capable.

For more of my quick impressions on driving/owning these vehicles, visit my YouTube video and read the description box. While you're there, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for future content AND to answer the poll question I've placed in the video! Thanks for tuning in AND for the and the 50,000+ website views now! I'm looking forward to more cars and content!

NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO - Pure Sound - Snow Drives

Since we're getting hit with the first winter storm of 2019, I figured it'd be appropriate to post a video of my cars driving in the snow. I've had my Saturn Aura V6 since high school and leased my Jeep Compass Latitude last year.

While the Saturn has never been great to drive in bad weather, its been a fast and fun car to drive during all other seasons. The Jeep is very stable in bad weather, over potholes, has heated seats/steering wheel/lower windshield, and is smooth and efficient basically all the time. It does need a little more power at times, I feel.

Enjoy this short video, and like, comment and subscribe for future videos to come! I'm in grad school and working as I've mentioned, so all blog and video uploads will depend on my schedule. ROLL ON!
